Allen-Lambe House, Wichita, Kansas

One of our customers told us of this Frank Lloyd Wright project found in the College Hill section of Wichita, Kansas.  We had no idea it existed and decided to check it out while still in town.

The home was built in 1918 and is named for its first owner, Henry Allen and his wife, Elsie.  It is a great example of Wright’s famous “Prairie Style”, known for the strong horizontal lines, heavy base, earth tones, long overhangs at the almost-flat roofs and deeply-recessed windows.  He also designed about 30 pieces of custom furniture for the home.
